www.vlmakeup.comSkin, skin, skin.....2009 is all about glowing skin! A bride's skin should look natural and soft allowing her own beauty to shine through. Brides almost always ask me for a natural look for their wedding day and the best way to achieve this look is by taking care of your skin beforehand. This way you will require light even foundation coverage and only adding a light layer of concealer where necessary. A routine of regular facials along with proper cleansing and moisturizing combined with drinking 8, eight ounce glasses of water everyday will ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for your special day. A professional makeup artist will carry several brands of foundations and should know by looking at your skin which brand and texture will give you the most natural flawless finish. This should be covered at your trial and you should see the results immediately when the right products are used on you.
The fall/winter eye makeup trends are all about rich earthy tones like moss green, smokey browns, greys and golds. Just imagine a fall wedding with nothing but the colours of the forest.....perfect! The real beauty of makeup is the ability to create whatever look you desire on that day. Often brides opt for natural eye shadow colours which can be perfect for bringing out your natural beauty but some brides may want to experiment and consider a perfectly applied daytime "smokey eye". This look, if done correctly, can be stunning on your wedding day. It should be applied carefully considering your eye and skin colouring then blended seemlessly so that it's not dramatic but soft and muted, classic and sophisticated. Just beautiful....
I can't talk about eyes without discussing eyebrows. For this fall/winter, brides eyebrows are natural looking. It's important to realize that nothing will take years off you like a well groomed eyebrow. If you still have a few months before your wedding, try to stay away from your tweezers and let your brows grow in. It really won't take as long as you might think and it may be painful to watch for a few weeks but the results will be worth it. Once you are at the stage where your brows have grown in, seek the services of a professional eyebrow expert. It will be money well spent and will help you look fantastic on your big day!
Blush is more defined during the fall/winter season of '09 with contouring making a big comeback! For brides, I'm all about that 'glow from within' look combined with light contouring. If you choose a light colour for your eyes on your wedding day, why not consider a bolder colour and contouring done on your cheekbones. If that smokey eye is what you're after.....the right contouring on your cheekbones can make those eyes pop and sparkle even more! Proper contouring can make a big difference to your face appearance and the results can look amazing on your wedding day. Remember, you can always try this and a few looks at your trial to see which look really works best for your style.
Finally lips....it's all about colour! Bridal runway shows corals and reds are very popular for 2009 fall/winter and this should continue well into 2010. Most brides are concerned that they will feel too dramatic with coloured lips on their wedding day but if done properly a colourful lip can look sublte and classic not overdone. Alternatively, you may choose a very soft pink or nude lip shade which will work very well with the new smokey eye look of the season!
I get asked often how long a bride's lipstick will stay on. If your makeup artist is using professional brand lip colours, your colour, when applied properly will last for hours. Many good makeup artists provide additional lip colour to the bride for touchups throughout the day.
Remember, the best thing about hiring a professional makeup artist is that you receive exactly the look you want with no surprises!
