We pulled this lovely wedding of Sarah Gay and Kenan Kunstal at Scripps Birch Aquarium, out of our archives. We love the personal touches and colors so much we wanted to share them one more time.
The Connect: Sarah and Kenan met at UCSD while enrolled in the engineering program. A mutual friend introduced the two and they were soon inseparable.
The Proposal: The couple was enjoying a weekend in Lake Tahoe when Kenan planned a romantic dinner for two at a restaurant overlooking the lake. He was too excited to even wait until dessert and popped the question at dinner followed by champagne.
The Celebration: They chose the Birch Aquarium for the spectacular San Diego view. Their ceremony overlooked the ocean and the couple said their vows as the sun was setting. They wanted their wedding to have a romantic, vintage flare with touches of whimsy and sea life. The Amorology team created a custom backdrop with bold black and white stripes, that read "Swept Away" to hint at the sea life theme while still maintaining a sense of romance. Black favor boxes wrapped in bakers twine held purple salt water taffy and also doubled as their place cards. The tables were dressed with custom table runners that were created by the bride's mother, scalloped vintage chargers and gorgeous florals in shades of rose and deep plum with guinea feathers. Table name graphics displayed different silhouettes of the couple with "he said, she said" romantic quotes. A dictionary was placed at the sign-in table for guests to circle words that reminded them of the bride and groom.
