It’s Admirable That Snoop Dogg Smokes Weed With His Son

It’s Admirable That Snoop Dogg Smokes Weed With His Son

Last week, Snoop Dogg's eldest son Corde Broadus posted a photo on Twitter and Instagram in which he's lighting up a bong for his dad—controversy ensued. But is anybody really shocked that the rapper would get stoned with his kid? After all, Snoop's career and identity is practically synonymous with marijuana. Would you be surprised to see Lance Armstrong riding bikes with his kids or Paula Deen passing the butter to the left at the dinner table to hers? I actually respect Snoop for blazing with his son because at least he isn't a hypocrite.
The concern trolling over this is so laughable. Snoop is being taken to task for a "major parenting fail", and The Daily Mail implied that Corde is wasting his life away smoking pot after turning his back on a promising professional football career. Yeah, because football is so great for your brain! Others blame Snoop for allowing his son to drop out of college to pursue a career in hip hop. Why is that Snoop's fault? Corde is legally an adult and can make his own decisions about what he wants to do with his life.
Snoop has actually demonstrated that he's proactive in fostering his children's interests. He's been coaching youth football for eight years. While Corde ultimately decided that he didn't want to dedicate his life to the NCAA, his younger son Cordell is being scouted for a scholarship to UCLA. In an interview with ESPN in the beginning of the summer, Snoop said that he was happy for both his boys and their different paths in life. When he realized that Corde had a musical inclination, he began spending time with him in the recording studio, just like he did out on the football field.
That doesn't seem like a parenting fail at all. He comes off as really involved and invested in his kids' respective futures. It's not like his son has some kind of pipe dream of becoming a recording artist that will never be realized because of his marijuana use. Please. He's trying to be a rapper, not a surgeon. And he's apprenticing under the best.
Most people never give it a second thought to have a glass of wine or a cocktail with their children when they are of age. For the Broadus family, it's bong rips. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
