0 Rihanna to Drop Shiny New Single This Week

Chart-topper Rihanna is set to drop her latest single, “Diamonds,” this Wednesday. The pop star officially announced plans to release the record this weekend, telling Z100’s Elvis Duran at the iHeart Radio Festival, “The lyrics are very hopeful and positive, but it’s about love and the gears are a little different from what people would expect.”

The “Talk That Talk” singer also said “Diamonds” is a “happy and hippy record” that’s “laid back” and “hopeful.”

Rihanna has not officially announced when her new album will be released, but MTV speculates it’ll hit shelves in November, as have several of her past albums. Earlier this month, the French brand of her record label, Def Jam, tweeted that her seventh album was set for a November release, but the tweet was quickly deleted.

Adding to speculation, Rihanna has been teasing her Twitter fans with tidbits of info, like a link to her new website that cryptically says “Coming Soon,” and by posting a photo on Instagram of what could be the new record cover. In the pic, Rihanna’s hands are rolling what looks like a diamond-packed cigarette.

What we do know for sure is that “Diamonds” is not only the name of her new record, but also Rihanna’s next world tour, which will kickoff next March in Buffalo, according to Rolling Stone.

“Diamonds” is set to hit airwaves at 8:00 AM ET on Wednesday.
