My 2010 Wedding Season

The wedding season this year was so busy for me but I had an absolute blast! I have a large wedding this weekend in Woodbridge (can’t wait! the bride is a gem!) and another one booked before year end but the rush of the season is now behind me. I’ve met so many lovely women from all over the world this year and am very honoured to have been included in their day. Here are some of my experiences from this past season…

I was hired by several brides from all over Canada who were travelling to Toronto/GTA for their wedding including brides from Vancouver, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  I also had many many brides from Toronto and the GTA that were travelling outside this area and hired me to join them for their wedding day. What I love about being a freelance makeup artist and hair stylist is that one weekend I'm in Uxbridge creating beautiful looks for 7 ladies, the next day I was off to a private suite in downtown Toronto working with 4 ladies who all reminded me of the “Sex and City” gang! (all fashionably gorgeous and successful!!) The following weekend I was in Barrie meeting a wonderful lady who was renewing her vows after 30 years of marriage and mid week I was travelling to a new bride for her trial in Mississauga. The following weekend I was in Peterborough at the break of dawn working on 6 ladies from all over the world!  (literally) And the next week it started all over again with a new group of interesting and diverse clients.

Whew....it's tiring just writing it all down! : ) But being "freelance" means I travel all over for business and in all honestly I enjoy every second of it!

In addition to my Canadian ladies I also had the pleasure of working with 3 brides from Australia, 2 from the US (Boston and New York), 1 from the Philippines (such a cutie!) and 3 from London England.
My London brides were all Canadian’s living in London…..considering I’ve been home only a year after living in England myself it was great to catch up on the latest news from across the pond. It’s always difficult to organize a wedding from so far away but I did my best to make sure the beauty part of their day went smoothly.

This year was unique for me in that I was hired for my first same sex wedding. I have to tell you, although the wedding wasn’t typical it was traditionally carried out and the ladies were so happy and great to work with. I was thrilled to be included in their day. (thanks Natalie and Eileen!) Also a big thank you to one of my trusted fellow makeup artists Jessica Jean Myers, as she helped me out with this wedding and a few more throughout the season.

I’ve had the best time meeting all my brides and all their families and friends.
I actually can’t wait for next season to start!
